Under the provisions of Parliamentary Act No. 25 of 2009, the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, was founded in 2009. It was given an A+ rating by NAAC for accreditation, and in 2022, NIRF placed it 81st among all universities. At the postgraduate and doctoral levels, the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, offers a total of 89 courses. Additionally, it offers two online certificate courses. Central University of Punjab has completed a remarkable journey of 13 years. University is accredited 'A+' grade in 2023 in the second accreditation cycle by NAAC and has secured 95th, 87th, and 84th, 81st rank in the years 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 respectively in the University category of NIRF. It is also recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the Bar Council of India (BCI), and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
