    The Chirala Engineering College was established in the academic year 2001 by GSR & TSR Educational Society, which makes Chirala Engineering College a private college.

    The college is privately owned. It is affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada.

    The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

    It is the 6th best engineering college in the state and 49 in the country as per a CSR Magazine survey.
