    Both are good. These days many civil cases involve criminal intricacies also. Therefore, you should be well aware of both the laws.

    Every law has its own authenticity and credibility. Law isn't about mugging up sections or orders. It's about embracing the legal system of any country.
    To answer your question, since it is not precise that in which context, are you asking whether to pursue civil or criminal law in academics or practising? l will suggest you to study both and then analyse in which area interests you. It's isn't about scope because one can broaden the scope if he has interest in that area.
    So, analyze your strength and then make a move.
