Is civil services a good option for women?

Remember Durga Shakti Nagpal? And what about Ira Singhal Kiran Bedi? Civil Service is one profession where women are in huge numbers and wildly successful. You've huge political interference but again, gender doesn't plays the role. The perks for women in particular jobs and that too by some of the officers. If you really want to get into the services you mentioned above then you shouldn't be looking for comforts in one particular service but the passion in you should make that happen. There are many officers(I hate to mention gender) working with true spirits challenging problems at home & work. Be a woman who earns the respect by the kind of job she does unlike pseudo feminists who doesn't put into practice. Any person will respect you for your individuality. All the best.

Why not? First, please change this thought that what is good option and what's bad? If you have seen the result 2016 - Nandini Kr, 2015- Teena Dabhi, 2014- IRA Singhal These women toppers (1st rank). So, if you think about this, go on.

Dear aspirant, There are many inspiring success stories of women who have made it to the civil services in India. Some women are lucky in that they have a supportive family who encourages them to pursue their dreams and break conventions. But there are a lot of women who have had to break norms in stepping out of their homes to pursue their goal relentlessly. Read the story of Vandana Chauhan who bagged an impressive all India rank of 8 in the UPSC CSE 2012 The UPSC result of 2015 was eventful as far as women empowerment is concerned. The first four ranks went to women. Ranks 1, 2, 3 and 4 were bagged by Ira Singhal, Renu Raj, Nidhi Gupta and Vandana Rao respectively. Even the topper last year in 2016 was a woman, Tina Dabi. Today, women feature regularly in the toppers list of the USPC civil services exam every year. It is important to have a balanced workforce for the country to progress and for development to mean something to every citizen of the country. If women constitute 50% of the population they should constitute a good number in the country civil services also. True development can ensue only if gender equality is achieved in every aspect of life.
