No, one can easily get admission to Trivandrum as the cutoff is very high for securing a seat in Trivandrum. The admission criteria are strictly based on the score of the LET, KEAM, CSAB, PMSS exam for Bachelor courses. For, master courses the admision is based on the score of CET-PG. Admission to the College of Engineering Trivandrum is determined by the results of the entrance exam. Candidates must take the KEAM/LET/PMSSS/CSAB entrance exam for BTech and B.Arch courses, the CET-PG examination for M.Tech courses, the LBS-MCA test for MCA courses, the CAT/CMAT/KMAT exam for MBA courses, and the CET exam for Ph.D. courses to be admitted to CET Trivandrum. The selection of candidates will be determined by how well they performed in the entrance exam and counseling procedure. The documentation and course fees for CET Trivandrum must be submitted by the chosen candidate.

There is a fierce rivalry in the premier fields of mechanical, CSE, and engineering, among others.  You need to achieve a mechanical and CSE score among the top 500 of KEAM.

However, you could need a rank of at least 1500 for EEE, civil engineering, and applied electronics; for industrial, the closing rank might even be as high as 2500! It's competitive for sure, but you can try hard to get into it.
