Is D.El.Ed compulsory for teaching in primary schools?

Yes, according to the Right to Education (RTE) Act & NCTE guidelines, D.El.Ed or B.Ed is mandatory for teaching in government and private schools.
- For Primary School Teachers which includes teaching Classes 1–5: D.El.Ed or BTC is required.
- For Upper Primary Teachers which includes teaching Classes 6–8: D.El.Ed or B.Ed is required.
- Candidates must also qualify for CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) or State TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) to get government jobs.
