Is doing MBA through MAT colleges considered good or not? I can't go for CAT.

Its on you about which career choices you prefer. There are good MAT colleges with promising career opportunities but they are very less in number. But if you give CAT along with MAT, you can have many good options for MBA.

Yes MAT is also good, although not as good as CAT but yes it has big colleges like: TA Pai Management Institute, Manipal, Xavier Institute of Management, Jabalpur (XIMJ). So, if you can't give CAT then MAT is also a good option.

I was previously doing CA but wanted to complete my masters first. As lack of preparation, I couldn't give CAT. So now, I'm focusing on giving MAT in February and April 2016. Suggest me good colleges from MAT in north region please and are they considered good? Everyone says drop and go for CAT. Do

There is no CAT PI shortlist for IIMs. Candidates have to simply login with their CAT credentials and fill the PI shortlist form.

There is no minimum qualifying marks for CAT. Anybody scoring above 0 in the exam is eligible for admission, however the B-Schools select candidates on the basis of cut offs which are 60 and above percentile.

The final CAT cutoff are not released publically. However, candidates can check qualifying cut offs in the admission criteria document released by IIMs and other institute before the exam.

CAT cut off is prepared by all accepting colleges individually. There is no one authorized body to do so. Even the IIMs determine their admission cut offs separately.
