Is dropping a year a good idea?

If a student drop a year for preparing for an entrance exam but fails to qualify, will he get admission in good colleges with the previous year's board marks for B.Sc?

Dear, I think dropping a year is not a good idea until you are confident enough to achieve your target. And whenever ensuring is under a question mark, you should keep strong backup circuit ready and the only important task is to make your sincere efforts double for pursuing both i.e. preparation f
