Is engineering a good option after 12th or should I look for something else?

It is a good option, but all depends on how well spent B.Tech or BE in terms of gaining and ability to apply knowledge. You must go only after deciding the stream of your preference and what suits you. Still, Science stream has varied multidisciplinary aspects. -
It is up to you, how you gain the knowledge before stepping into any institution. Well, if you want for some reputed ones, then surely go for top institutes for which you need to clear the exams. It is up to your caliber all the way.
