Is engineering important to become a CEO of an company ?

My sister has passeed ssc she want to become CEO of a reputed company like microsoft so she should go for science or commerce but bussiness is related with commerce and all the ceos have done engineering so what should she prefer ?

It so happens that you find many mechanical engineers holding top positions in big and medium scale engineering firms. But there are entrepreneurs and people with other qualifications including MBA.
