Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, as it is popularly referred to, is generally beyond the described Tier 2 university in India. A Tier 1 could be generally classified as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) or the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) in terms of global reputation.
AKTU may be a good university of Uttar Pradesh, with a good number of very good programs, but it does not share the stature of Tier 1 institutions with respect to national or international programs.
