Is game design in LPU good? What is the qualification for the course?

Dear Daman, My friend did Bachelor in Game Design from LPU and got placed in an MNC as a game designer. LPU Provides degrees of 3 and 4 years after 10+ 2 a and 2 years after graduation B.Sc ( Multimedia), Graphics or gaming ( 3 years) Design ( Multimedia), Graphics or gaming ( 4 years) Specifically taking your query regarding B. Design in Gaming. I just want to highlight that this course is of 4 years I. e. 8 semesters. The eligibility is : Pass with 60% in 10+2 (with English). I want to highlight the specialisation which are offered : Animation 2. Game Art 3. VFX Art 4. Game Design Discipline minors are also floated which are: 3D visualisation 2. Conceptual Design 3. Effects and simulation 4. Gaming 5. Graphics Adding to the above points, the programme focuses on Digital Design: Sketching, Photo manipulation, Digital art, Game Design and Narration, 2D Art, Texturing and Design Management Knowledge & skill requirement: Design Basics and Process, Colour Theory, illustration, Photo Illustration, colour correction, Digital painting, Vector Art, Typography, Pagination, Layout, Photography. 2D & 3D Animation: Storyboarding, Stop motion Animation,2D Animation, 3D Animation, Architectural Visualization, Game Design For getting the above the aspirant should have the Knowledge & skill requirement in terms of Scrip writing, Storytelling, Character design, 3D modelling, Texturing, Rigging, Lighting, Animation, Rendering. In addition to this candidate should be aware of C+, C#, Visual Basic etc. Above all, gaming deals with Visual Effects (VFX) I. e. Editing, Compositing, Motion Graphics, Texture Animation In addition to the above, a Minimum of 4-week compulsory industrial training after the 3rd year and full-term optional OJT in the 8th Semester is floated for providing exposure to the student. Infrastructure: Multimedia department has separate block and has well-equipped labs with dell workstations to handle high-end software's like adobe after effects, Maya, Cinema 4D, 3ds Max, Nuke, Fusion, Z brush, photoshop, etc. Even the department has good quality of resources like Black magic cinemas cameras, canon cameras, trolly, jib and well-equipped special VFX studio with permanent Chroma backgrounds. My Cousin's brother completed his B. Design degree from Lovely Professional University. He is placed in Rockstar games now as Lead Facial Animator. He worked in Red Dead redemption 2 and now working in GTAVI. As his feedback, I would like to recommend that LPU is one of the best places in India for Multimedia, Graphics, and Gaming. The faculty members are from the industry like red chilies Studios, Prime focus studios and they have experience of more than 15 years. The multimedia department has a separate block and has well-equipped labs with dell workstations to handle high-end software like adobe after effects, Unity Maya, Cinema 4D, 3ds Max, Nuke, Fusion, Z brush, photoshop, etc. Even the department has good quality of resources like Black magic cinemas cameras, canon cameras, trolly, jib, and well-equipped special VFX studio with permanent Chroma backgrounds. Placements are also great. This year also his friends and juniors got placed in companies like Amazon, rockstar games, Kony India, Xentrix studios, Lolly POP Design Studio etc. With average packages of 5 Lacs per annum and maximum packages are 8 to 10 Lacs Gaming started in 2017 Department has separate Gaming studio also where students can play and test the games on Ps4 and xbox 360+. .

The faculty members are from the industry like red chilies Studios, Prime focus studios and they have experience of more than 15 years. The multimedia department has a separate block and has well-equipped labs with dell workstations to handle high-end software like adobe after effects, Unity Maya, Cinema 4D, 3ds Max, Nuke, Fusion, Z brush, photoshop, etc. Even the department has good quality of resources like Black magic cinemas cameras, canon cameras, trolly, jib, and well-equipped special VFX studio with permanent Chroma backgrounds. Placements are also great. This year also his friends and juniors got placed in companies like Amazon, rockstar games, Kony India, Xentrix studios, Lolly POP Design Studio etc. With average packages of 5 Lacs per annum and maximum packages are 8 to 10 Lacs. Gaming started in 2017. Department has a separate Gaming studio also where students can play and test the games on Ps4 and xbox 360+department focus from Game design to execution with complete production pipeline its 95 percent practical based course with hands-on experience with software like unity, Maya, Substance painter, brush etc. And live projects too.

Design which is for 3 years where the eligibility is: Pass with 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with English or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPU NEST or UCEED. (2) B. Design which is for 4 years, where the eligibility is: Pass with 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with English or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPU NEST or UCEED. Hello, You have chosen a right career. If you really wish to become a video game developer and a big name in the same gaming production forte. Then you can proceed with 4 years degree programme. At various Universities it is called with a different programme name. # But be careful, Few Colleges offers Multimedia and Animation. They will try to make you fool by depicting this degree as Gaming degree. Actually there will be Subject in which their curriculum will do nothing with Gaming Degree. Being Education Consultant I need to inquire generally and I did so at LPU previous year. During conversation with one of their Academic Executive, I came to know that they are running 6 different Under Graduation degrees under the School of Animation. Out of those 6 separate degree two were of Gaming; 1. B.Sc. (Design-Gaming) 3 years Degree. 2. B. Design (Gaming) 4 Years Degree. The eligibility is : Pass with 60% in 10+2 (with English). Online admissions are in process at LPU, which means their academic Executives will be taking calls to guide the candidates. You can try calling them or visit their website. I heard they have relaxed their eligibility criteria for various programmes aiming to facilitate the candidates against COVID_19 pandemic. I hope this will help you.

LPU curates two programs in Game design: 1. B.Sc. (Design - Gaming ) Duration : 3 years. (6 Semesters) 2. B. Design (Gaming) Duration: 4 years. (8 Semesters) With the discipline majors like: 1. 3D VISUALIZATION 2. ANIMATION 3. CONCEPTUAL DESIGN 4. EFFECTS AND SIMULATION 5. GRAPHICS And specializations within the branch like: 1. GAME ART 2. GAME DESIGNING 3. PLAYGRAMMING LPU makes perfect sense. There is an International Exposure Option available too. Student may be given an option to go for 4 weeks study tour to USA/ European countries or any other country as decided by the University subject to conditions.
