Is game designing and graphic design same? I want to be a game designer.

Game designing and Graphic designing are a part of Communication Design, but two has very different bifurcations in-terms of courses and skill sets requirement. Game designing is a vast domain in itself, within game designing you have interactive motion design, animation, character design, game play design, environment design, 3D, visual graphics, etc. So, in order to be a game designer you need to identify your core interest within these respective areas. There are institutes which give you a holistic exposure within each of these areas and based on your core skills and strength you can further build upon to pursue your interest into game designing.

No, these are two very different areas. Graphic design deals with print media and advertisements etc. whereas game design is related with animation multimedia.
