Without clearing the GATE exam you can get admission to the Ph.D. course. Several universities like the National Institute of Technology (NITs), and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) conduct their own exams and interview. The minimum criteria are 55 percent marks in M.Tech. Students have to clear entrance tests conducted by Universities, the NIT (National Institute of Technology), and the IIT (Indian Institute of Technology). Most of the IITs and NITs prefer the GATE and NET exams while central or state universities conduct their own exams. A list of colleges, where you can apply without the GATE or NET.
