A. One of the oldest Universities in North-East India, Gauhati University (GU) was established in the year 1948. The university functions with 341 affiliated colleges along with 35+ PG departments. Besides these, it also houses an Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) and a constituent Law College. Ranked 36 under the University category by NIRF 2022, the university is also accredited by NAAC with an 'A' grade.
