Haridwar University (HU) is not officially classified as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 institution under India's tier system for universities. However, it is recognised as one of the leading universities in Uttarakhand, offering strong academic programs, particularly in engineering, technology, management, and healthcare. The university emphasizes placement opportunities, with students being recruited by notable companies such as IBM, TCS, Infosys, and HCL.

Haridwar University known earlier as Roorkee College of Engineering came under Tier 2 category. Although it enjoys high reputation and even listed on the UGC and NAAC, it is not as strong as some of the best universities in India including IIT or NIT. Despite this, it is still a recognised university and provide sound courses in a number of disciplines such as engineering, management and computing.

Haramaya University does not rank as Tier one university .

However, whether Tier two status was given or not remains uncertain. In general, elite academic institutions regarded as Tier 1 tend to feature at the apex of various classification systems used to assess colleges and universities.

On the contrary, self-acclaimed research universities classified at level two are still credible places with a lot happening in terms of scholarly works

Rankings - It has been ranked by Times of India for it's placement regiments

Scholarships - The students are also provided with many scholarships
