Is IGNOU an open university or a distance education institute?

<p>IGNOU or Indira Gandhi National Open University, as the name suggests, is an open and distance learning institution. Only a few courses, such as Ph.D. and M.Phil programmes are offered through regular mode. Also, UGC and Allahabad court together have also mentioned that all the degrees from IGNOU will be considered as valid and legitimate as any other regular college degree.</p>
