    Indian Institute of Science Education and Research is a great platform to pursue Science and is better than the Indian Institutes of Technology to become a scientist. You can excel as a scientist. As Indian Institute of Science Education and Research is the best in India in research education except for the Indian Institute of Science. Indian Institute of Science Education and Research will provide you with a much better curriculum than the Indian Institutes of Technology.     Few of my friends are faculty in both the IISERs and IITs, according to few of them, IITs are designed with 40% research and 60% teaching and good if you want to do B.Tech or looking for more industry jobs. IISERs are opposite (more research and less teaching concept or teach by research), they are designed to make scholars and no B.Tech courses are run there. Having said it, both the type of institutes have very good faculty with active research labs and high impact research papers.
