Yes, IKGPTU is a university established under the Act of the State Legislature in 1997. Today it affiliates 121 AICTE and 65 UGC-affiliated institutes. It was earlier known as Punjab Technical University and was later renamed as I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University. The university is located at four other campuses other than the main campus. The university offers 180+ courses through 220+ affiliated colleges. For its good performance, the university was also ranked 120 in the Engineering category by NIRF 2021.
