Chennai is not home to IMI Bhubaneswar. It is situated in the Indian state of Odisha's capital, Bhubaneswar. The institute was founded in 2011 and is renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities, emphasis on entrepreneurship, student-driven campus, and social responsibility activities. It also offers industry-leading specialised management programmes. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has given IMI Bhubaneswar a good ranking, and the school provides great placement possibilities for its students. Since IMI Bhubaneswar is not located in Chennai, it is inaccurate to state that it is the best in Chennai.

The institute selects candidates based on several parameters such as academic scores, entrance exam, etc. However, for the FPM course, candidates are selected based on IMI Research-based test + Essay Writing + PI. However, candidates who have national-level scores such as UGC NET/CAT, etc., are exempted from taking the in-house entrance exam.
