Not important but you must know your capability if you are confident and motivated than go for drop and if not then please dont.

It is very common, the disadvantage is if you don't clear your entrance or perform too well, this will lead to demotivation. Taking gap is but very wise and also common. It is not a good choice as many students are waiting for jobs every year. Hence, it may be better if you continue your studies without any gap.
