Yes, opting Marine engineering after Diploma Mechanical is a good option. IMUCT is an entrance exam conducted by Indian Maritime University for B.Tech Marine Engineering. Three years Diploma holders are eligible for admission in second year through lateral entry. The eligibility criteria of IMUCET for B.Tech Marine Engineering (Lateral) is given below. Eligibility : 3-years Engineering Diploma in Marine/ Mechanical / Electrical / Electrical & Electronics, from the colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education with minimum 55% of aggregate marks in the last year of Diploma Course. Note : The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th or in the Degree/Diploma Course conducted by a recognised board or University. The candidate should have completed the Diploma within its stipulated duration of 3 or 4 years as the case may be.
