Is it a good choice to pursue petroleum engineering from LPU or should I look for other colleges?

Hi Sonu, Petroleum engineering course do cover Chemistry and geology to extract oil and gas from under the earth's surface. LPU don't offer B.Tech. Petroleum Engineering course, instead offering B.Tech. Chemical Engineering course, which you can pursue for sure. Chemical engineering is a broader category than petroleum engineering. It covers the production and use of many types of chemicals. Chemical engineers use Chemistry to develop fuel, food, drugs and new substances. Both petroleum and chemical engineers are considered some of the most valuable degrees in India & abroad. A Chemical Engineer could work in Petroleum sector as well. Chemical engineers can be employed in both the public and private sectors. LPU is very good in terms of the placements, curriculum, and infrastructure. They have best-experienced faculty members and provide great exposure to the students to work in the industry as well by organizing workshops, industrial visits, internships etc. So, in my experience, you should definitely go for LPU without any second thought.

Hello! Petroleum engineers have come a long way from just drilling a hole under ground to produce oil by its natural energy, to very sophisticated enhanced oil technology, to actually pushing oil from an injector well to a producer. There are even more challenging tasks ahead for a young graduate in petroleum engineering today. Petroleum engineering education provides a wide spectrum of specialties to keep the industry running. These are reservoir engineering, drilling engineering, and production engineering to name a few. A reservoir engineer determines the oil in place and devises the most appropriate technology to produce the oil within the prevailing economical environment. LPU is the best place for petroleum engineering. Being an Alumni I can say LPU has made a good name for itself in a short span of time by working hard for it students in terms of education, faculty, placements, infrastructure, etc. It works for the overall development of its students. Its main aim is to provide students with ample exposure both in the form of theoretical and practical knowledge for which there is much emphasis on workshops, live projects etc. Along with class room teaching. To impart quality education and training in petroleum engineering and associated fields to enable the students to imbibe technical and analytical skills through the culture of logical and critical thinking for students at LPU. To inculcate sense of social and environmental responsibility among students which inspires them to apply chemical engineering principles in solving industrial problems through sustainable and eco-friendly technologies for the betterment of industry and nation. To establish modern infrastructure and conducive research environment for carrying out academic and sponsored research. To foster spirit of excellence and professional leadership in students and faculty members through exposure to leading academic institutions, research organizations and external experts.
