Assess how hard-working you are. If you feel that you have the right bent of mind, M.Sc is not a bad decision. You may have to wait for a while to reach on top. I don't find any other problem. Don't be mediocre student.

If you belong to science background, then M.Sc is a good career option for you. You can become a lecture or pursue Ph.D. in the desired field.
