Is it a good idea to study computer science from USA? What are the merits of doing the same?

If you get admission, than surely you must go for it. The biggest merit is placement. You don't need to sit in India and wait for an opportunity that takes you to US. Rather you will get a wider scope of companies for your selection. God bless you.

You will need at least 40 lacs. This is an approximate amount as you questioned for both, graduation + PG.
