Is it a good option for me to drop this year and try for IIT next year?

    Well. It depends. If you feel that you can study well and get into one of the big IITs next yaer, then YES, you should take a drop and prepare.
    The reason being that IIT is a big brand and an education from there can not only fetch you a good job but also be helpful in future (for further education or job switching).
    Another reason being that the quality of learning you get at IITs (in terms of fellow students and the faculty) is definitely better that Tier 2/3 colleges.
    Also, just in case you cannot make it to the older IITs, you can also get into the better NITs, which may not give you equivalent exposure as the older IITs, but still a

    Yes you can drop a year and prepare for JEE mains, you can enroll yourself in a good coaching institute, you can even go to kota. There are many good coaching institutes in kota and the atmosphere in kota is good for study.
