Is it a good option to pursue chemical engineering to become a scientist?

I want to be a scientist. Keeping that in mind, I selected biomedical engineering, but circumstances are pushing me towards chemical engineering. What should I do now?

To be a scientist, it depends upon your research work, new creativity, inspirational ideas, etc. and does not depend on any engineering branch.
