Is it advisable to join 1st year B.Tech in a top ranked engineering college for B.Tech after already completing 1st year in another college?

It totally depends on candidate. If you are capable enough to pay fee for an extra year then you should opt for top ranked college. But here is a catch that how would you compare a bright student from low ranked college with an average or below from top ranked college. Going to top ranked college will only ensure that you will get more number of opportunities in comparison to low ranked college. So if infrastructure of both colleges are nearly same and faculty at your current college have good reputation then I will recommend you to stay in your current college. And the extra money, which you are ready to pay again for first year, you should invest that in your skills development rather. After all you are going to be an engineer and reputation of your college will not matter much as your skills will surely does. So compare both colleges on parametric values rather than just rankings.
