Yes, entrances like cat, mat, xat etc are very much essential to appear and also to perform well to grab a seat in reputed colleges. U just missed mat may. In september u can appear mat but this year there is no more chance. U can talk to some institutes if they arrange your gd/pi and accept september mat score. But i dont think it will work. U can give a try with my idea. All the best.
