No, it's not necessary, to attempt both papers in the UPTET exam. If you want to become a teacher at the primary level (nursery to 5) then go for paper 1 and if you want to become a teacher at the junior level (6 to 8) then go for paper 2. The UPTET exam is held for two papers i. e. paper 1 and paper 2. Students planning to teach Classes 1 to class 8 need to give both papers. Both UPTET papers are conducted on the same day.
