Is it compulsory to cook non-vegetarian in B.A. in International Culinary Arts (BAICA)?

When Cultural sensibilities cause professional dilemma ! In a series of conversations I keep on sharing here, got this call from a concerned parent in Maharashtra. Our family has religious beliefs and are purely vegetarian. My kid wants to be a chef, is there any scope for a person who doesn't want to even cook non vegetarian food? So, writing for benefit of those with similar concerns: I agree that maximum hotels offer a range of both vegetarian & non vegetarian dishes as all cuisine have varieties in both. However the best part of this industry is that there are many opportunities that allow you to work as per your comfort zone. Keeping in mind the kitchen, there are many different kinds of chefs, you may opt for the bakery & confectionery, salads or even garnish sections as these do not involve non veg. Otherwise in case you are willing to cook non veg food,it is not so necessary for vegetarian students to taste what they have made. It will be suffice if they are willing to cook non-vegetarian dishes. Admission to Hotel Management programs at ITM-IHM are open in mumbai. DVD

Hi, once you are in learning period, yes it would be must to cook Non Veg, but once you will be trained then you can choose if you want to cook non veg or not, but while pursuing yes you have to.
