Is it compulsory to do automobile engineering to become an automobile designer?

It is preferable not mandatory. You can do B.Tech Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and then do PG specialisation in Automobile.

Ideal path for you is as follows +2 with PCM followed by BTech Automobile Engineering and Then MTech .
