Is it compulsory to give JEE Advanced for taking admission in NIT?

No, it is not. You only have to give JEE Mains exam and score a good percentile in it to get a good NIT. -
Yes, a candidate who has taken admission in NIT can appear for JEE Advanced but it can become difficult to cope up with the syllabus of NIT and preparation for JEE Advanced at the same time. Furthermore, JEE Main is mandatory to qualify and get admission in NITs.
