Admission to Ph.D. English Literature programme is generally entrance based followed by Personal Interview. However, some colleges may accept admission on a merit basis also.

Ph.D. Eligibility Test will be conducted in all the departments/subjects to fill in seats for the Ph.D. programme Key Points: Candidates with UGC NET/UGC-CSIR (JRF)/SLET/GATE/GPAT/ ICAR/INSPIRE/M.Phil from G. N. D. U. /Direct Fellowship Awardees/ Qualifying GNDU Ph.D. Eligibility with Validity Certificate of Test in particular subject are exempted from Ph.D. Eligibility Test. GNDU Ph.D. Eligibility Test consists of two papers (I) First paper will be compulsory and common to all candidates. It contains 25 MCQs on general awareness and mental ability, and carries 25 marks.
