    Hello!
It is not compulsory; you can stay wherever you want to. The college generally specifies whether a student should stay only in a hostel or not. Just ensure your residence is in close proximity of the college to save on the traveling time.

No, it is not compulsory at all. But, it all depends upon which college you select to pursue because many colleges have a tight schedule with morning classes and evening project related work, guest lectures, presentations etc. Due to which most of the students wish to stay in college hostel as it becomes convenient for them.

Yes, it is necessary to stay in the hostel but you can take permission to go home for a few days or you can go home when any festival or any special occasion will come.
