Is it difficult to get admission to top colleges of Mumbai if I am a drop year student even though I have more than 85% in 12th exam?

Being a drop year student is not at all beneficial without any specific and valid reason. As the cutoff marks are everising, it makes it difficult even for a meritious person to get admission in top colleges of Mumbai as well as the country. Also many colleges conduct their own entrance exams for enrollment of students or a person can opt for national exams like CUET for admissions.
