The Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute tests needed to be admitted varying per course:
- B.Tech: CSAB counseling, JEE Main
- B. MBBS, BDS, MDS, and Nursing: NEET; Arch: NATA
- Every other course: The MGR Engineering Entrance Examination and the All India Common Entrance Examination (MGREEE)
