Hi.HPTU - Himachal Pradesh Technical University admission is both entrance and merit-based for programmes offered at UG and PG levels. A few popular exams accepted by the institution for admission are JEE Main, GATE, and CAT, etc. However, for admission to B.E. / B.Tech, BHM, and BHMCT, etc. courses, the college considers the scores of past academics for admission.

HPTU Hamirpur will select the candidates on the basis of merit scores of CAT/MAT/CMAT/HPCET/graduation. Seats will be filled on the basis of scores of national level entrance test first, next on the basis of HPCET scores and if the seats still remain vacant, then on the basis of marks of the qualifying exam.
