No, it is not that easy to become an assistant professor after completing an M.Tech at IIT. As per the latest guidelines, you need to clear the UGC NET or state exam to become an assistant professor in any engineering college. Previously, M.Tech graduates could teach at the graduate level; this has now changed. Now, you need to qualify for either the NET, GATE (for Ph.D. or state-level exam to be certified to teach at the assistant professor level. To choose the teaching profession, some prestigious colleges may also require you to hold a Ph.D. in the relevant field, and other prestigious colleges may require teaching experience.

You can not become Assistant Professor with M.Tech in IIT but you can become one in some state level engineering colleges. The salary is different at different places, so you would need to look at some advertisements.
