In the private sector, yes it is good as the project manager has the most authority on the project site. The salary is also higher than any other workers or engineers on site. But to get there, you need to start for the start. That is you need to first become a junior site engineer in a company which is very well reputed to have your desired salary then after a sufficient on-site experience you can get to that position.
