    If you have home state quota, you will get a seat in Mechanical branch. Otherwise, it is highly unlikely that you will get a seat in mechanical in the preliminary rounds of counselling. However, after the preliminary rounds, there is option for internal sliding and there is also an option of branch change at the end of first year if you have a CGPA of 8.5 and above.
