7 years agoPetroleum engineering degrees are not very popular in India because of fewer universities offering admissions to petroleum engineering and less awareness in parents. During the first year of study in petroleum engineering, students usually learn about basic engineering methods and techniques and from second year very specialized courses in petroleum engineering are offered that include:
1. Reservoir studies.
2. Gas hydrates.
3. Environmental impact of petroleum fluid operation.
4. Characterization of crude oil.
5. Development of computer software.
6. Polymer synthesis and characterization.
7. Profile modification.

India has very well developed Chemical Industry including Petroleum & Gas both in government and private sector. It is core sector with lot of government and big corporate houses support. I am of the opinion that petroleum engineers have good scope in India and abroad.
