I would refer you Haldia for mechanical because it has industrial exposure for core engineering departments whereas Techno does not provide such facilities.

Mechanical as well as computer science engineering, both the departments are absolutely perfect in our college. There isn't any separate criteria. The thing is your choice of interest. If you wish to go with mechanical engg., you may do it here also, somewhere else also. But being a student of this college, and an IT Student I'd say all the departments are given equal preference and everything is the same in here. And as I said HIT comes under one of the best colleges in the top 3s private college in West Bengal. So, it's always a wise decision to go with HIT as it's the best option.

Haldia Institute of Technology is older than many pvt. colleges of West Bengal. So, if you want to study there, that would be a tremendous choice of yours but go through your interest in the subject what you like. If you like to code, love to do maths then go for CSE. All the best.

Mechanical has always been the evergreen branch of engineering. I would prefer Haldia as in Haldia the faculty of mechanical are real good and so are the labs where you will have to spend most of your classes. Campusing of mechanical is also good here and most importantly here if you are interested in practical skills, here in mechanical they have their groups like asphalt, gokart which participates in well known competitions.
