Is it important to get 75% marks in class 12th for general category candidates to get admission in NIT?

Hello Sapna,
Yes, it is the minimum eligibility marks in 12th standard to get admission in NITs and IITs. It is also a way of filtering the students as there will be many students who may miss the opportunity of getting the NITs or IITs even though they would have scored a good mark in JEE Mains and Advanced. -
Shiksha recently reported that the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) had received a recommendation from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to make certain changes in the eligibility criteria for admission to NITs(National Institutes of Technology).
With the proposed changes, general category aspirants securing below 75% in the Class 12th board examinations will be ineligible to secure admission in the leading technical institutes, irrespective of their JEE Mains scores. However, SC (Scheduled Castes) and ST (Scheduled Tribes) candidates, there would be some relaxation, with the cut-off for eligibility being 65%.
