Some IIMs do have points for work experience, but there are freshers who enter every year based on their stellar record in academics and extra curricular activities.

Hello, work experience before pursuing MBA is always beneficial as it helps one to relate to the academic curriculum in a better way. Also, it is always given some weightage by almost all the reputed B-Schools during their admission processes. Having said that, even freshers secure admissions there, so having work-experience is not at all mandatory. So what matters more is whether you want to take up a job before starting with MBA or not. If you have/can get one, then you may go ahead.
