It is a definite advantage scoring highly in the Engineering field, though you can always compensate otherwise.

No, most of the Engineering colleges go for 60% for entry. Some have 80% not all.

No it is not.only IITs and BITS pilani require 80 percent.Oher college or universities have a criterion of 50 to 60 percent.However if you have less than 60 percent in your +2,you will face problem in getting into a bluechip company at he time of placements
