Yes, appearing for both papers of the UGC NET exam is mandatory to qualify.  You need to qualify for both papers separately to be considered eligible for Assistant Professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Paper-1 assesses your general teaching and research aptitude. Whereas, Paper 2 focuses on your knowledge and expertise in your chosen subject area.

Of course, it is required of the candidate to take the UGC NET exam in both papers. Multiple-choice questions (MCQs) are present in Paper 1 and Paper 2, the two papers that make up the UGC NET test. The two papers take three hours to complete in total. Together, papers 1 and 2 yield a total of 150 questions for the candidates. Papers 1 and 2 both have mandatory questions. There is no negative marking policy for the UGC NET exam. Correct answers are given to the candidates; wrong responses do not result in a mark deduction. Computer-based testing, or CBT, is used to administer the exam.

  • Yes, it is mandatory for candidates to appear for both UGC NET Paper 1 and 2 to qualify for the UGC NET exam. The candidates have to qualify for both papers separately. Candidates who will qualify for one paper will not be considered as qualified for the UGC NET exam. Paper 1 consists 50 questions for 100 marks. Paper 2 consists 100 questions for 200 marks. The candidates are advised to study paper 1 as paper 2 or they will not qualify for the UGC NET exam 2023.
