To get admission into any IIM and some top non-IIMs, giving CAT is compulsory. However there are other exams which you can give apart from CAT and MAT. Some top B-schools accepting their scores are mentioned alongside the exam:-
    1. IIFT - IIFT Kolkata & Delhi
    2. NMAT - NMIMS Mumbai
    3. SNAP - SIBM & SCMHRD, Pune
    4. XAT - XLRI Jamshedpur & SP Jain Mumbai
    5. CET - JBIMS, Sydenham Mumbai
    6. CMAT - Great Lakes Chennai, KJ Somaiya, Sydenham & Welingkar Mumbai
So basically, it depends upon which B-school you aspire to get admitted that you need to give that particular exam.

Either CAT/MAT/CMAT is considered so give all of them. Also, a good percentage is needed. GDPI performance is a key factor in the best Schools. So, be fluent and confident in PI round. Its a game changer.

CAT is not compulsory to pursue MBA, but yes any other entrance exam is necessary. As per the college and University norms, you can't pursue MBA without giving any entrance exam. So, check where you want to take admission and which exam you have to give. Regards.
