Is it necessary to do classes for CA foundation? Can we crack it by studying on our own?

Look, the coachings are only available to help you out if you fail in preparing on your own. So, if you think you can prepare yourself for the CPT, then there is no such need for any classes. It is possible and anything can be achieve through hard work and dedication.
