Hi, You can go for either a regular degree or a correspondence. The college should be UGC approved. The subject of the NET should be the same as that of your Masters degree. Yes, students who have done Masters from correspondence, are eligible for the UGC NET exam. It's not necessary to do regular post graduation course. Only you should have minimum 55% aggregate marks in Masters. And also remember that if you apply for JRF, your age must not be more than 30 years. For

Hello, If your degree is equivalent to a master's degree, then you can appear for NET (National Eligibility Test) exam. You should be qualified from a UGC approved university to appear for UGC NET exam. Minimum 55% aggregate marks are required to appear in UGC NET (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD

Dear Nadeem, Students from regular or correspondence mode can apply for NET exam even for Ph.D programme. UGC mentioned as eligibility - Master degree from relevant stream with recognised university. So don't worry and do well in exam. All the best.
